Yanaka / Nezu / Sendagi area

The Yanaka, Nezu, and Sendagi areas in Bunkyo City and Taito City are called “Yanesen” by taking their first characters. The stairs leading to Yanaka Ginza Shopping Street in the Yanaka area are called Yuyake-dandan, and are famous as a spot with a good view of the sunset. Along with the Nezu area, which prospered as the temple town of Nezu-jinja Shrine, and the Sendagi area, where literary giants Soseki Natsume and Ogai Mori lived, Yanesen has an attractive nostalgic feel that still retains the atmosphere of an old town in Tokyo.
